Angrui Micro: Breaking the International RF chips Monopoly and Paving the Way for a New Era in Semiconductor Innovation
Yvette Wu October 15, 2025
As the global semiconductor industry becomes increasingly competitive, radio frequency (RF) front-end chips have become a critical component in the era of the Internet of Things (IoT), positioning themselves as a strategic frontier in technological competition. For a long time, this field has been dominated by international giants like Skyworks and Qorvo. However, Beijing Angrui Microelectronics Co., Ltd. is emerging as a leader, opening up a path of independent and controllable development for China’s RF chips industry. As a national-level “little giant” enterprise, Angrui Micro has made significant breakthroughs in the 5G RF front-end sector and, through its innovation across the entire industry chain, is now aiming for the STAR Market, infusing new momentum into the domestic RF chips market.
RF front-end chips are the core components that enable communication functions in smartphones and IoT devices. Among them, the 5G high-integrated module, L-PAMiD, has long been monopolized by international players due to its high technical barriers. Angrui Micro has successfully developed the 5G L-PAMiD module, which meets international advanced standards, and achieved mass production in mainstream flagship models in 2023. This breakthrough not only shatters the technical barriers of international manufacturers but also signifies China’s success in achieving “zero breakthrough” in high-end RF modules.
Angrui Micro has built a comprehensive technical matrix that covers the entire spectrum of RF front-end chips, from 2G to 5G full-format RF chipss to communication PA products supporting satellite systems like Beidou and TianTong, as well as automotive RF modules certified for AEC-Q100. Among these, the satellite communication PA products have been mass-produced and shipped in domestic flagship smartphones, while automotive RF products have successfully entered the supply chains of major car manufacturers such as BYD and Volkswagen, demonstrating the company’s strong technological conversion capabilities.
The foundation of Angrui Micro’s rapid development lies in its strong technical accumulation. The company has formed 11 core technologies, including “CMOS RF power amplifier technology” and “RF power amplifier power synthesis technology.” It has also led or participated in six national-level major scientific research projects, including the “Next-generation Broadband Wireless Mobile Communication Network” project, which has been recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. These technological reserves have not only built the company’s core competitiveness but have also provided strong support for its participation in global competition.
In terms of market expansion, Angrui Micro has seized the opportunity of domestic substitution, achieving rapid business growth. From 2022 to 2024, the company’s revenue grew from 923 million RMB to 2.1 billion RMB, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 50.88%, ranking among the top domestic RF front-end manufacturers. This success is attributed to the rising demand from domestic terminal brands for local supply chains and deep cooperation with leading mobile phone brands like Honor, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi.
The IoT sector offers a new growth space for Angrui Micro. The company’s RF SoC chips, including low-power Bluetooth and 2.4GHz private protocol products, have been adopted by clients such as Alibaba, Pinduoduo, HP, and Sannuo Medical. These products cover a wide range of applications, including wireless keyboards and mice, smart home devices, and healthcare. By 2024, its low-power Bluetooth chips are expected to hold about 5.4% of the global market share, positioning the company as an important player in the IoT industry.
With the goal of listing on the STAR Market, Angrui Micro plans to raise 2.067 billion RMB, with key investments in three areas: 1) R&D upgrades for 5G RF front-end chips and modules, continuing breakthroughs in high-integration modules and satellite/automotive RF technologies; 2) RF SoC development and industrialization, optimizing the performance of low-power Bluetooth and IoT connectivity chips; and 3) the construction of headquarters and R&D centers, establishing advanced R&D platforms and attracting top talent. These initiatives will further consolidate the company’s competitive advantage in the high-end market.
The rapid growth of Angrui Micro is supported by its core team. The actual controller, Qian Yongxue, has over 20 years of experience in the RF field, having worked with industry leaders like VIA Technologies and RDA Microelectronics. The company’s core technical team, mostly from top institutions such as Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has an average of over 10 years of industry experience. The company has established a clear governance structure by linking core talent through employee stock ownership platforms, ensuring stable technical innovation and team growth.
From breaking the international monopoly to building a full-scenario product matrix, from focusing on the mobile phone market to expanding into new sectors such as satellite, automotive, and IoT, Angrui Micro’s development trajectory reflects China’s steadfast steps in independent semiconductor innovation. As 5G deepens, satellite communications proliferate, and IoT continues to expand, the demand for RF chipss will continue to grow. With its technological, market, and supply chain advantages, Angrui Micro is poised to expand its share in the wave of domestic substitution and become a significant force in the global RF industry.
